Our son, Patrick, turned 3 this month and all he has asked for the last several months is to have a “Bwaze birfday pawty wid Bwaze cake and fire on it!” So…he got his Blaze birthday complete with a pyromaniac Blaze cake! My husband and I are always particular about what our kids watch to make sure it is educational so we knew that we would incorporate the six simple machines in some way for the party activities that they use in the show and make a playlist of the songs for the background. We came up with an obstacle course in the “Monster Dome” with screw, pulley, ramp, wedge, wheel and axle, and lever. And since there is an episode with bouncy tires and bouncy bull track, we thought it would be fun to throw in a small bounce house for added entertainment plus their ride on truck they got for Christmas. We started the set up for the Monster Dome on Thursday and every day the boys have wanted to spend hours out there so we haven’t had the heart to take it down yet! Clearly it was a hit! The biggest challenge was this first trimester of pregnancy has stolen all energy, motivation and strength out of me so I could not be more grateful to my dearest friend, Alyssa, for helping me the whole week! I seriously could not have done it without her! It was also the first time I haven’t thoroughly planned every detail including the cake, so it was a whole lot of improv the last three days! I knew I would have lots of fire on the cake and a Blaze and AJ but the rest was a make-as-I-go and cake decorating is soooo not my strong suit so it was faaaar from perfect! But Patrick loved it and that’s what was most important! We also of course had to get our cookies from Inga again this year (although this might be the last party since they have moved *insert bawling emoji*), a large number balloon, and handmade shirt by Mommy so it was quite the party for this three year old and I’m so glad we got to celebrate in a big way again for him!
