Letter K for kangaroo
Prep: cut out all pieces of construction paper (back paper is greenand is 4.5″ x 6″, you can click on the template below to save and print). Don’t forget the google eyes! Make an example for them to follow. Place all pieces in a sandwich ziploc bag so they can open and assemble with some glue.
King crowns
Prep: Cut out yellow paper into crowns with rectangle bands for the back. Have tape to secure the bands to the crowns and size accordingly. Also, have self adhesive gemstones for them to decorate their crowns. Even my one year old could do it and he was sooooo incredibly happy to make his own crown! Both boys were so very proud of their work!
Science Craft
This keychain activity was supposed to be in time for Mother’s Day, but we were behind a couple weeks and I am horrible at being on time for special days like that! But these were such fun! First, preheat the oven to 325 degrees (or follow the directions on your shrinky dink package. While the oven heats, stamp your child’s hand in some fun stamp colors or even mix them up for extra variety. Then press their hand on shrinky dink paper (shrink film). Sprinkle with a little embossing glitter. Cut out the hands as much as you can around the fingers, then hole punch as close to the top of the hand as possible. Lastly, write their name and date on the back. Now you are ready to watch the magic! Place parchment paper on a cookie sheet and the finished hands glitter side up on it. Put it in the oven for about 3 minutes (first time takes longer because the pan has to heat up). Once it starts curling up be ready with spatulas to flatten as needed and keep them from bubbling up wrong. I recommend also only doing about 3 hand prints at a time in the oven because you have to work super fast to flatten them before it gets too hard (sometimes they flatten back on their own, sometimes they didn’t). If you can put your child on a stool to watch through the oven window, they will have lots of fun seeing the shrink dink paper change. Let cool and you have a keychain perfect for mothers and grandmothers!
Story Time
The Song of the King by Max Lucado
King David
They got to wear their crowns during story and snack time!
Snack
Kiwi koala! Lately they haven’t been super hungry, so I kept this week’s snack a little more light and simple. Made with kiwi, grape and dried blueberry eyes.
Physical Activity
We had a fun kicking obstacle course! Using garden stakes and pool noodles, the boys had to kick through all the tubes. We changed it up a bit too and had them kick through the green tubes and then over the blue. And then we had a few other different games created from it afterward! We also used balloon balls from Postal Threads just because they are so light and less dangerous with little ones!
