Craft Time

Letter N for nightingale’s nest at night

Prep: cut out all pieces of construction paper (back paper is black and is 4.5″ x 6″, you can click on the template below to save and print). Make an example for them to follow. Place all pieces in a sandwich ziploc bag so they can open. Gather some pine straw and tiny twigs and let them color the eggs and nightingale, blue all those pieces down then make the nest. Finally, let them put star stickers on all around the N.

Science Craft

Night Sky

Prep: If you have a night sky projector, it’s a fun thing to make your room dark and turn on the stars or use the glow stars to make constellations. It’s a short activity but you can always turn on nature sounds, have sleeping bags etc and do a nap time there on the floor under the night sky for added fun!

Nature Art

Prep: Cut out 5×7 cardstocks. Give the kids bags to forage in nature for all sorts of leaves, flowers, sticks etc. Then let them stamp their findings onto the paper. We are using them for Father’s Day cards that can be framed with envelopes as well. 

Net Fishing

Prep: Originally our plan was to be outside with a blow up pool for some summer splash and net fishing, but it was raining and too cool to just set up in the garage. So…we used the tub. The good thing is that you can do this indoors or outdoors! I filled the tub up and put our colorful fish along with alphabets into the tub and gave the nets to go “fishing with.” Build motor skills by asking them to find and catch…
