THIS WEEK WE ARE LEARNING ABOUT THE…

Letter: T

ACTIVITIES

Craft Time

Letter T for tiger

Prep: cut out all pieces of construction paper (the back paper is 4×6), you can click on the template below to save and print. Make an example for them to follow and don’t forget google eyes! You’ll need a black marker for the stripes and you can cut out really thin strips of black paper for the whiskers.

Tie Dye T-shirts

Prep: You’ll need a tie dye kit. Prep the area first with plastic down and mix the dye with water. You can also go ahead and rubber band the shirts in the way you want to do it. When ready, let the kids pick their colors and squirt it on their shirts. You can also try different techniques with wet or dry shirts. It’ll need to dry for a while before washing just be sure to follow your kit’s directions. We had sooo much fun we already want to use it again for next week’s U activity (you’ll find out soon!).

Tissue paper art

Prep: Cut up multiple color tissue paper into squares or various shapes or purchase these. You’ll also want to have some spray bottles of water and some paint paper. First, let them spray the paper with water then put the tissue paper all over their paper. Spray it with water once more then let fully dry. When done remove the tissue paper. You can also use a white crayon and make a design as your first step and to create a design that shows through the tissue paper.  (We forgot pictures on this activity too 🙁 )

Tree Rubbing art

Prep: Have copy paper and crayons. Take them outside to find trees, put the paper against the tree trunk and rub the crayons to feel the different textures and types of tree bark. It was such a fun nature activity!

Take A Part Toy building (working with tools)

Prep: This activity was a HUGE hit and so worth it as a toy!! I knew I wanted them to use tools and thought it would be awesome to build their own truck, train or tractor but had no idea what I could find for their age, I was thrilled to find these! They make a great gift idea for grandparents! I got these on sale and one had a drill which I HIGHLY recommend but I also am so glad I got the set of 5 as well since every child got to make their own and they were soooo very proud of making them! I started by going ahead and taking them apart with the instructions in each ziploc bag then they took turns with the drill but also each had their own screwdriver or wrench. They loved using the tools and following instructions, so many great skills to learn with this toy I can’t recommend more!

Elephant Toothpaste

Prep: The kids had so much fun on letter E with this experiment we decided to bring it back! This time with 6% hydrogen peroxide. Click on the link for the instructions and details on that experiment.

“Thank You”

Prep: Every week we love to run out and greet our trash pickup crew with waves, high fives, sometimes our different treats like the lemonade etc. So this week, the kids spelled out “Thank You” on some copy paper with markers and then wrote their names each on another set of paper. Then when they arrived we ran outside and lined up and also took a picture with them. The kids and trash men loved it! It made my heart so happy while we were writing the letters and I told them we were going to use these to say thank you to our trash men and they all got soooo excited and were ready to run outside right away!

Twister Game

Prep: just a simple twister game! It’s a great activity to do on a simpler level and let them to work on their left, right and colors skills.

Tithes

Prep: Quarter Box time (one last time)! Now is a good time to teach them that we say “thank you” to Jesus for letting us take care of the money He gives us and that we give him a little back. We used 10 dimes and put one dime on the side. Or you can use $2.50 in quarters and put one quarter aside. They won’t understand the concept of 10% yet so just showing them that we give a little back to Jesus each week when we go to church.
